Leadership Learning is Key to Student Success
"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other."
( John F. Kennedy, 37th President of the United States)
To gain meaning embedded in this quote requires reflection. A leader cannot lead effectively without knowledge and a desire to learn. Leaders must continue learning to maintain a viable position of leadership. As educators we communicate this to our students as we stress the importance of leadership learning. We model it through our own professional development experiences and forays into advanced degrees in our field. Those in positions of leadership cannot ignore the need to keep learning as a means of self-growth and being cognizant of changing times. As we guide students into leadership roles in the classroom, school and community, we must offer them the tools to rise to and embrace leadership.
